These terms apply to every purchase made on femalepsychologywithemma.com. Please read section 6 and section 9 in particular. They are short, and they are the two that matter most.

1. Who you are buying from

The books on this site are sold by:

Chilla Verhagen
Ham 10
2685 WG Poeldijk, the Netherlands
Chamber of Commerce (KvK): 64875482
VAT (BTW) number: NL002295073B81
Email: emma@femalepsychologywithemma.com

“We”, “us” and “our” below mean that business. “Emma” is the illustrated character this channel is told through, not a separate legal person, and not a licensed practitioner of anything.

2. What we sell

We sell ebooks in PDF format. They are digital files. Nothing is printed and nothing is shipped. Each book is roughly 60 to 80 pages and is illustrated.

You can buy each book on its own, or all four together as a collection at a reduced price.

3. Prices and currency

All prices are shown in US dollars and that is the amount you are charged. The price you see on the page is the total price. Any tax that applies is already included in it; nothing is added at the last step.

Your bank or card issuer may convert the amount into your own currency and may charge you a fee for doing so. That is between you and them, and we have no part in it and no control over the rate.

4. How your order is made

Your order is complete when you finish the checkout and your payment is approved. At that point a contract exists between you and us. You will get a confirmation email with your download links.

We may refuse or cancel an order if the payment is declined, if we suspect misuse, or if there is an obvious error in the price. If we cancel, you get your money back in full.

5. Delivery

Delivery is immediate and automatic. As soon as your payment goes through:

Each link works up to five times and never expires. There is no account to log into and no password to remember — the email is your copy. If you lose it, or a link stops working, email us and we will send you a fresh one the same day.

It is your responsibility to give a working email address. If you mistype it, write to us and we will resend to the corrected address.

6. Your right of withdrawal, and how you give it up

This is the section that decides whether you can get your money back, so it is written plainly.

If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you normally have fourteen days to change your mind about something bought online. For digital content there is one exception, and it applies here.

At checkout you are asked to tick a box confirming two things:

If you tick that box and we deliver, your right of withdrawal is gone and the sale is final. If you would rather keep your fourteen days, do not tick the box — but then we cannot give you the files until the period has passed, and there is no way for us to sell you an instant download on those terms. This is the arrangement permitted under Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU and Article 6:230p of the Dutch Civil Code.

If you are outside the EU and the UK — including in the United States, Canada and Australia — no statutory cooling-off period applies to a digital purchase of this kind. All sales are final at the moment of delivery.

None of this takes away any right you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in. Where such a right exists, it wins over anything written here.

7. Refunds

Because the files reach you instantly and cannot be returned, we do not give refunds for change of mind, for buying the wrong book, or for deciding after reading that the book was not what you hoped.

We do refund where something on our side failed. The full list of when we refund, and how to ask, is in our Refund and Returns Policy, which forms part of these terms.

8. What you may do with the books, and what you may not

When you buy a book you get a personal licence to read it. You do not buy the copyright.

You may: read it on any device you own, print a copy for yourself, and keep it for as long as you like.

You may not: resell it, give it away, share the file or your download link, upload it anywhere, post extracts beyond a short quotation with credit, translate it, use it to train a machine-learning model, or use any part of it commercially.

All text and all illustrations remain our property. If you share a file, the licence ends and we may ask you to stop and to compensate the damage.

9. What these books are not

Read this one properly. It matters more than the rest.

These books explain patterns. They describe where a way of living came from. They are not:

If you are struggling with your mental health, speak to a doctor or a qualified therapist. If you are making decisions about money, speak to a licensed adviser who knows your situation. Do not use a book — ours or anyone else’s — in place of a professional who can actually look at your circumstances.

The books draw on published research and on the lived experience of a generation. We have written them carefully, but we do not warrant that everything in them applies to you, and you act on them at your own discretion.

10. Our liability

We are liable to you for damage caused by our own intent or gross negligence, and for anything else that cannot be excluded under Dutch law. That part we cannot and do not limit.

Beyond that, our total liability arising from any purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost income, for decisions you take after reading, or for any outcome in your life, your health, your relationships or your finances.

We are not liable for interruptions caused by things outside our control, including hosting failures, payment provider outages, or your own device, software or internet connection.

11. What you need to open the files

You need a device that can open a PDF. Almost anything can: a phone, a tablet, a laptop, an e-reader that accepts PDFs. If you cannot open the file, write to us before asking your bank for the money back — see section 12.

12. If something goes wrong

Email emma@femalepsychologywithemma.com. We answer.

Please write to us before you contact your bank or card issuer. Reversing a payment through your bank costs us the amount plus a fee and takes weeks to resolve, and in almost every case the thing you needed was a working link, which we can send you in a minute. If a claim is filed without contacting us first, we will respond to it with the record of your purchase and your download activity.

If you live in the EU, you can also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform. We would much rather you just emailed us.

13. Which law applies

Dutch law applies to these terms and to every purchase made under them. Any dispute goes before the competent court in the Netherlands.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may also be able to bring a claim in your own courts.

14. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The version that applies to your purchase is the one published on this page at the moment you completed your order, and we keep a dated copy of each version.
